20th Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities

The 20th Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities (CEEDPA) was held in Kyiv from 27-29 November 2018. This year's event was hosted by the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Commissioner for Human Rights. Pursuant to the amendment of the Ukrainian Act on Personal Data Protection, introduced in 2014, the exercise of control over compliance with data protection legislation was entrusted to the Ukrainian Commissioner for Human Rights.

Participants at the meeting included presidents and representatives of data protection authorities from CEEDPA member states. Participants had the opportunity to share experiences and best practices while discussing key aspects of data protection, achievements to date and challenges.

The following issues were the subject of panel discussions: a summary of the first six months of practical application of the General Data Protection Regulation, the Modernised Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of Personal Data or the exchange of practical experience gained through the application of data protection legislation. The hosts of the meeting shared their experiences more extensively in a separate panel.

The meeting also debated CEEDPA's internal rules and future cooperation.

It was also decided that the 21st CEEDPA meeting will be held in Poland in 2019.
